Abstract

This encyclopedia chapter updates research on the media-intervention tactic of culture jamming viewed through the lens of the activity as a form of citizen's media. It traces origins, antecedents, and affinities. It then examines the tactics of several recent culture jamming actions in the United States and Europe. It also examines the way this "outlaw" practice has been co-opted by the very institutions it purports to critique.
